We’ve been a family owned and operated business in the Greater Portland, Maine for over 60 years. My grandfather started painting and wallpapering in the early 1950’s. He was also an outstanding carpenter and all around talented guy who could create just about anything. My father and uncles started working with my grandfather a few years later.
I started working with my family at the age of nine by helping around the construction site. Usually you’d find me washing Muresco ceilings, scraping radiators and stripping wallpaper, often on Portland’s western promenade.
For me, being a part of a family business was the best way to learn my trade, if I was willing to listen. I learned about quality and a dedication to craftsmanship – from my dad and grandfather. In order to do a good job, I had to know what a good job looked like and develop the necessary skills. It’s been a valuable experience to be taught by older craftsmen and others in the trades.
I’m proud and thankful for the experiences I gained through working with my family. I use those experiences every day when restoring or renovating older and historic homes. Each project is started and completed with enthusiasm and dedication to craft.
